I give book recommendations! This blog is to track the books I'm reading and the ones I have read. I give the books I've read a star rating between one and five on how well I liked it (one is worst and five is best). If you'd like my personal opinions on the books, please don't be shy and ask! I also reblog things from time to time. I hope you enjoy my blog! This is a side blog so I cannot follow you back.
my read shelf:
Cortnie's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)

Please Note: Some of the links to the the authors on my "authors page" will show that there is nothing found. This is not an error, it's simply that a book by that author has yet to be posted. Could be that it's someone whose books I want to read, or I possibly have a draft up for them already and haven't started the book yet :) The same goes for the "series" links as well.

It begins as an assignment for English class: Write a letter to a dead person.Laurel chooses Kurt Cobain because her sister, May, loved him. And he died young, just like May. Soon, Laurel has a notebook full of letters to the dead—to people like Janis Joplin, Heath Ledger, Amelia Earhart, and Amy Winehouse—though she never gives a single one of them to her teacher. She writes about starting high school, navigating the choppy waters of new friendships, learning to live with her splintering family, falling in love for the first time, and, most important, trying to grieve for May. But how do you mourn for someone you haven’t forgiven? It’s not until Laurel has written the truth about what happened to herself that she can finally accept what happened to May. And only when Laurel has begun to see her sister as the person she was—lovely and amazing and deeply flawed—can she truly start to discover her own path.

Gossamer by Lois Lowry
Where do dreams come from? What stealthy nighttime messengers are the guardians of our most deeply hidden hopes and our half-forgotten fears? Drawing on her rich imagination, two-time Newbery winner Lois Lowry confronts these questions and explores the conflicts between the gentle bits and pieces of the past that come to life in dream, and the darker horrors that find their form in nightmare. In a haunting story that tiptoes between reality and imagination, two people—a lonely, sensitive woman and a damaged, angry boy—face their own histories and discover what they can be to one another, renewed by the strength that comes from a tiny, caring creature they will never see.
